The Queers, a horror zine by Jenny Lin
The Queers is a haunted airbnb story set in Venice. Pairing moody, monochromatic watercolour images with an austere text, the story is a take on queer Gothic horror fiction. If in this genre in the past queerness is suggested through an atmosphere of horror but unstated, in "The Queers," by contrast, queerness is overt, named and repeated, while the horror and hauntedness of its setting is only suggested and imagined.
Jenny Lin's "The Bathroom Problem"
Jenny Lin recently made a new artist's book called The Bathroom Problem. It's a diorama/tunnel book created for The Pop-Up Museum of Queer History's
"Queer Book Dioramas" show, in New York.

Newish titles: The Brazil Series
This post is long overdue! During the summer, Eloisa Aquino was busy writing and drawing three new zines for the Vancouver show "Queering the International."
The zines all are about a queer Brazilian topic.
Madame Satã tells the story of the legendary hustler and performer of Rio de Janeiro in the 1930s and 1940s.
Pajubá talks about the secret language of Brazilian transgender folk travestis.
Brazilian Singers (from the series The Life & Times of Butch Dykes) humorously introduces several queer Brazilian musicians.
All the zines are now available in B&D's Etsy bookstore and soon in the bookstores that carry our stuff.

Jenny Lin's new zine project and the first issue, One Evening
Here's the artist's description:
While a group of young women commiserate and decompress after a midterm art school critique, they share an erotic queer bondage fantasy about their art teacher. This book is the first in a series in-progress of illustrated and interpreted queer sexual fantasies. I invite acquaintances to share their specific and personal sexual fantasies with me (in verbal or written form) and provide them with the service of transforming the fantasies into graphic book form. New Judith Butler Zine at the Montreal Queer Book Fair
B&D will be once more at the fantastic Queer Between the Covers, Montreal queer book fair, this coming Saturday, August 18, in the Montreal Gay Village.
We will have Eloisa Aquino's new butch dyke zine with a mini-bio of Judith Butler and also Jenny Lin's Skinny Leg in its two incarnations: hardcover pop-up and softcover zine.
Queer Between the Covers is a exciting event in Montreal, part of the alternative Pride Pervers-Cité. There are tones of interesting materials, cool events, and a fun vibe. From their website:
Queer Between the Covers aims to provide access to queer materials that are otherwise unavailable in the city, as well as draw attention to the role of queer bookstores in providing community space and supporting queer cultural production.

Skinny Leg, by Jenny Lin
Jenny Lin is launching her new pop-up book Skinny Leg during the conference Comics and Medicine: Navigating the Margins, in Toronto. Lin's book narrates her experience of being run over by a truck while biking and the subsequent recuperation, blending clinical descriptions with personal accounts. According to Lin, "what is revealed is the strangeness and banality of the
experience as well as the mutability of memory."

New titles from B&D Press
B&D Press will be at the Queer Between the Covers book fair in Montreal (August 13, 2011) launching some new titles.
Maltee is a new picture book by Jenny Lin. One onanist spends the day with an oblivious witness.
The Gothic novella Carmilla was the first lesbian vampire tale ever. Written in 1872, Le Fanu’s book predates Bram Stoker's Dracula by 25 years, and has been adapted many times for the big screen. Its enourmous influence in our culture lasts to these days.
The series The Life and Times of Butch Dykes has two new titles: the graphic biographies of tennis star and gay activist Martina Navratilova and super model and actor Jenny Shimizu.
Martina Navratilova is considered by many the best tennis player of all times. She is also a gay rights and animal rights activist, a mystery novel writer and a philanthropist.

After The Life and Times of Butch Dykes won the Best English Zine award in Montreal’s Expozine, B&D Press was invited to show at the New York Book Fair in 2010. The author Eloisa Aquino was also nominated for the Printed Matter’s Awards for Artists in 2010.
